Early 19th century scale model of a French Cathedral
€495,00 Oorspronkelijke prijs was: €495,00.€395,00Huidige prijs is: €395,00.

Rare 19th-Century Diorama of a Ceremonial Parade Boat in Wooden Transport Case
Dimensions: 160 x 40 x 20 cm
Material: Wood, papier-mâché, cardboard
Origin: Possibly French, Belgian, or German, 19th - early 20th century
This exceptional and rare diorama depicts a richly decorated ceremonial parade boat, complete with detailed figures dressed in colorful historical or fantasy attire. The scene evokes a theatrical spectacle, a historical procession, or a literary imagination, possibly inspired by the works of Jules Verne or classical opera.
The boat itself is beautifully crafted with an elaborate decorative finish. The figures, likely made of papier-mâché or cardboard, are hand-painted and arranged in a staged tableau on the deck. The wooden case in which the model is stored suggests it was a valuable exhibition piece, possibly used in museums, theatrical productions, or as part of a traveling collection.
Given its rarity and remarkable state of preservation, this is an extraordinary collector’s item for enthusiasts of historical dioramas, nautical art, and 19th-century theatrical decorations.
The box has been retro-fitted with a LED strip lighting module operated by a remote control unit.
The item has been featured in the Belgian "Eénmaal Andermaal" television series with Jacques Vermeire and Axel Daeseleire.
